Kinky....

Ok ok. I know what your thinking. Get your mind out of the gutter. Today I am talking about Kinky Curly curling custard. (available at Target stores). Last night I tried this product and I must say Its one of my favorites so far!! My hair is shiny and curly with no frizz. It does take some effort to shingle it in, but the results are worth it!!

Shingle - To apply product one section at a time to your hair until all hair strands are coated with the product.

Curling custard has a nice light pleasant scent. It is not overpowering. I was supposed to use it with Kinky curly Knot today but Target was out of it. (the sales lady wouldnt go look in the back for anymore.) Smh... But anyway it turned out great. If you are natural or trying to go natural you know that you have to find products that work well for you. Everything that I try may or may not work for you. Don't be afraid to experiment. Recently I tried Carols daughter Hair butter. It works nicely on wet hair, but on my dry hair it was too heavy. I will be doing my next review on Miss Jessies Curly pudding. Here is a pic of my hair with the Kinky curly curling custard. My hair is 100% dry in this photo.

Here is a picture I took when it was damp.

As with all naturals I too have some struggles with my hair. I have found a routine that works perfectly for me. But I am having problems finding styles. I have never been good with hairstyles. I dont know how to cornrow or flat twist my hair. I wish I did though. If you would like to know what my hair regimin is I am posting it here.
Wash with conditioner or a NO SULFATE shampoo.
Detangle while hair is soaked with conditioner. (And yes I mean SOAKED) I use tons.
rinse it out and dont brush it anymore. from here on out it is finger styling ONLY. Unless you need the brush to "finish" a style.
Then I wear a wash and go by putting whatever leave in conditioner I choose. typically it will be Carols daughter Milk, Organics olive creme, or Carols daughter Hair butter.
I hope this helps someone....

1 year Natural

Yay!! I have been natural an entire year!!! I am loving it.

Recently I have tried Carols daughter MILK. Its AMAZING in my hair. I dont care for the smell too much. Its not a bad smell, just not a Yummy smell. Thank goodness the smell fades quickly. my hair is looking better than ever! Today I am wearing my hair in a wash and go that I have extended to 2nd day. I can typically extend them about a week if I spray it with water each morning, and wear a bonnet at night. Here is a photo of my second day hair.

NEXT MONTH IS MY NAPPIVERSARY!! ONE YEAR NATURAL!!!
I have been loving watching the growth over the past 11 Months. My hair is so healthy and growing wonderfully. I plan on trimming my hair next month. I am having fun trying to find styles on the internet for my hair length. And by fun, what I mean is trouble. I have seen photos of locs, and afro's but I dont want either. I have been wearing wash and go styles and twist outs. Here is my wash and go from today.

Here is a length check.

Here is a twistout FroHawk

And here is my hair flat ironed.

Not bad for 11 months huh?

6 1/2 Months Natural

I’m 6 ½ Months natural. Sorry I have not kept up with the updates.
I love the freedom I have with my hair. It’s so incredibly easy to style. I have found a very easy style that I wear each day. In the morning I just spray my hair with water. (Sometimes a mix of water and conditioner in the spray bottle) and I rub rub rub. My curls start popping out. Then I take 2 side combs and put one on each side of my hair. Its a very easy fro hawk. Later this month I have a ceremony that I am in. I will be on stage in a business suit and then an evening gown. My friend is doing my hair for that occasion. I’m not sure what style I will have but I will try to post photos.

What I love most about my natural hair is...

I love that my natural hair has a personality all its own. I am so happy that I am no longer FORCING my hair to do things that it does not naturally want to do. I love that some days my hair looks amazing and other days it shows me that not everyday is going to be perfect. I also love that I am not damaging it by frying it with blowfryers and curling irons anymore. I feel like my hair is as unique as I am. Even my sisters and I do not have the same hair. There are 3 of us and Each of us have a completly different hair type.

I have had tremendous growth over the past few months. My hair is healthy happy and thriving. Each day I am learning new things that my hair likes and dislikes. It really is an intense relationship that I have with my hair. I am loving every moment. I even have a favorite hairstyle!! I am loving the Frohawk!! I may post some photos soon.
